WARNING: Winter Conditions Have Arrived in the High Mountains

We would like to warn all mountain visitors and hikers that conditions in the mountains can change rapidly with altitude. Winter conditions have already arrived in the high mountains. Mountain trails are icy and snow-covered, and temperatures have dropped well below freezing.

Visiting the high mountains in these conditions requires appropriate winter mountaineering equipment, including an ice axe, crampons, a helmet and warm clothing. Equally important are sufficient experience and the knowledge required to move safely in winter mountain conditions.

We strongly advise visitors who do not have the necessary equipment, experience or knowledge to avoid demanding high-altitude hikes and instead choose lower-altitude routes that are free of snow and ice.

Before setting off into the mountains, always check the latest weather forecast and trail conditions, and choose a route that matches your abilities and experience.

Safety should always come first. We wish you a safe and enjoyable time in the mountains!
