Fine Cuisine in and around Kranj 2026

Between May 8 and May 24, 2026, the culinary event Fine Cuisine in and around Kranj returns to the Gorenjska region. The event brings together selected restaurants from the region in a unique gastronomic experience.

In its fourth edition, 20 providers from the municipalities of Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Kranj, Jezersko, Naklo, Preddvor, and Tržič are participating.
 This year’s central theme is honey from local beekeepers, which will be creatively incorporated by chefs into multi-course menus – from starters to desserts – presented through modern interpretations of traditional dishes.

All restaurants offer a uniform menu price of 30 €, making it accessible to explore the diverse flavours of Gorenjska region.

Restaurant Jezersko

Right next to the picturesque Planšarsko Lake, the renovated Jezersko restaurant – with its long tradition – has been welcoming guests again since the beginning of 2026.

The spacious restaurant is filled with the aroma of authentic home-made food, as they prepare masovnek with sour milk, fragrant stew with Carinthian buckwheat žganci, excellent game with bread dumplings, home-made desserts, house-made ice cream and a variety of other delicious dishes.

Menu (8. – 24. maj 2026):

→ Cold appetizer: delicately seasoned steak tartare with home-made butter and crispy spelt bread
→ Main course: braised venison in game sauce with bread dumplings and pear with cranberries, served with parsnip chips and caramelized carrots with honey
→ Dessert: hazelnut mousse with a honey centre, drizzled with chocolate and pollen, served with raspberry ice cream on crumble

→ Menu price: 30 euros

→ Local ingredients: butter from the Pr’ Vernk Organic Farm (Zgornje Jezersko), spelt from Ank’s Farm (Zgornje Jezersko), Nimrod game meat (Škofja Loka), honey from Kokl Beekeeping (Potoče), and cream from Podjed Dairy (Olševek).

This menu will be served from Tuesday to Saturday during the Fine Cuisine in and around Kranj (May 8–24).

Šenk's homestead

Polona Virnik Karničar and Drejc Karničar run this renowned homestead in Zgornje Jezersko. The organic farm, where everything is meticulously organized and restored, is well-known far and wide for its authentic, home-style dishes prepared with locally grown ingredients.

The versatile Polona, who is the head chef, swears by local and seasonal ingredients. She also holds dear the traditional Slovenian and old family recipes that instantly evoke fond memories of our mothers’ and grandmothers’ kitchens.

Menu (8. – 24. maj 2026):
→ Cold appetizer: seasonal salad from our own organic garden
→ Warm appetizer: sour cream dip, home-made sourdough bread
→ Main course: veal stew with ingredients grown at the Šenk farm, and Carinthia-style buckwheat žganci, topped with house-made cracklings
→ Dessert: gratinated cottage cheese pancakes drizzled with honey

→ Menu price: 30 euros

→ Local ingredients: milk and cottage cheese from the Pr’ Vernk organic farm (Zgornje Jezersko), buckwheat and white flour from the Pr’ Maršet mill (Vodice), rye and spelt flour from the Anko Farm (Zgornje Jezersko), honey from beekeeper Marija Arh Štular (Zgornje Jezersko), and numerous excellent ingredients from the Šenk Farm (vegetables, spices, veal of the local Cika breed, cracklings of Krškopolje pigs).

Vila Planinka

Vila Planinka – a getaway that recharges you. This is the motto of the boutique hotel in Jezersko that also features a modern restaurant.

It is led by young Gorenjska chef Jernej Kamič, who is committed to local ingredients, prepared in an innovative, modern, fresh, and at the same time somewhat different way.

Jedilnik (8. – 24. maj 2026):
→ Cold appetizer: trout ceviche, buttermilk sauce, greens
→ Soup: herb soup of May, apples, walnuts, sour cream
→ Main course: beef sirloin, garlic velouté, potato rösti, honey demi-glace

→ Menu price: 30 euros

→ Additional option (for an extra charge): dessert – milk cream, honey cracker, wild berries, rye sorbet (8 euros)

→ Local and Slovenian ingredients: dairy products from Mlekarstvo Podjed (Olševek), trout from Ribogojnica Vodomec (Zalog – Cerklje na Gorenjskem), herbs and greens from the Mikrozelenje Šebenik farm (Borovnica), honey from the nearby Kokl beekeeper (Potoče pri Preddvoru) and wild berries from the Gorenjska farm Alpine Berrytale, run by young Luka Novak (Prebačevo).
